George Daniel Streamer Fishing Workshop, Sunday Sept. 30th, 2018, 9am-2pm

George Daniel grew up and currently lives in central PA, and he is one of the most sought-after fly fishermen in the United States. He is probably best known for his expert fly fishing skills, books he has written, and successful former competitive fly fishing career. In 2016 he wrote ""Strip-Set", one of the absolute best books out there on streamer fishing. And hot off the press this summer is his excellent brand new book "Nymph Fishing: New Angles, Tactics, and Techniques". He will conduct a 5 hour workshop for us (partly classroom, partly on the water) on how to be a more effective streamer fisherman. Streamer fishing has a well-deserved reputation for producing some of the biggest trout, but there is much more to it than just making a down & across cast and stripping in a Woolly Bugger. George is always experimenting and learning, so his classes evolve every year and he will cover some of the subtle nuances & tricks that get fish to eat your streamers under a variety of conditions. He will also  show you some of his favorite streamer designs/patterns and the best ways to rig and fish them. Adapting to the situation is what it's all about, and George will show you how to do that.

G.D. is a guide/writer/presenter nowadays, and prior to that he managed a TCO Fly Shop in State College, PA. As a teenager in central PA he was mentored by the likes of Joe Humphreys & George Harvey, and honed his skills after that as a member of Fly Fishing Team USA, competing in competitions around the world against some of the best international trout anglers. That ups your learning curve dramatically. He also wrote "Dynamic Nymphing", widely considered to be the best book on the subject up to this point. There are few who combine his knowledge of fly fishing & ability to teach the subject. Plus he's just a super nice guy, and he loves to fish streamers.

Items discussed in classroom and on the water:

-Reading the water

-Rigging for the conditions

-Upstream, across stream, and downstream presentations

-Casting, line control, presentation, and retrieves

-Fly Design & Pattern Selection

-Proper Streamer Tackle

Clinic cost is $150, paid in advance, no refunds. This is a rain-or-shine event, so please bring a raincoat! Bring also your fishing gear, and a pen & pad to take notes. Class size is limited to 6P to ensure everyone gets plenty of personal attention from George.
